Hi Josh,
As a writer and script editor myself (with three books published and various stories) I can say without too many negative vibes that you are a good writer.
If needs be, I could help edit this story 'craft wise' to enable you to learn more about the excellent craft of fiction.
In the meantime: The opening is good and places the reader directly into the action. The characters are well rounded and the dialogue is good while the content has a 'read on' ability to the prose.
