Well, it ain't better than a car crash, but anyway...
This story is beautifully written. The subject is a really touchy one and it must be treated with good care, otherwise it won't have the impact it always has. You took a very good care of this, seriously. The time elapses fit very well here, because it seems like an evolution, one step forward, because of the words you chose. This was a torrent of feelings and words that... well, it flows very well. I don't know if it from the theme, cancer or death in general, but it flows with the eyes that read it.
