The very principle of sticking with the one you love through everything just because you love them. So what you have to take care of them? That's your choice and privilege. You desire to take care of them no matter what. Everyone needs a Gabe to their William. Someone to hold them through the bad times and never let go. the rememberance of everything about that person that you love just to keep you going through your day.
It's about losing something so precious to you, that without it, you're living life through blind eyes, literally or not. But with that someone, you can make it. All those memories of them are the most important thing to you, next to them.
Expecting them to leave is natural. Who wants to take care of someone else their entire life when they can just as easily find someone better who they don't have to wait hand and foot on. But you fail to realize that you're their only one. They can't live without you and vice versa.
That is true poetry.
