That was really good. I don't think I've ever seen a witch trail story before. It had just the right amount of dialogue and description for a one-shot. The last line was really good...it made the entire story.
This is one of the best things I've ever read by you. Ever. William reminded me of a real person, with his confused personality. He seemed more real to me then any of the other characters, and that's what made him my favorite.
I especially liked the end because that's where it all turns around on him, and it gives a bit of meaning to "You don't know what you got till it's gone". I liked Sarah's confidance of herself, and I liked how she didn't confess - though, for some reason I don't find it all believable.
Have you read "Gallows Hill" by Lois Duncan? This reminded me of that. William is a different character. It's sad that mob mentality was so prevalent. My favorite lines:
The year was 1692, the date was March 15, and it was eerily cold and rainy outside on what should be a nice spring day.
....her neck would simply snap and then her world would go black.
It had just the right amount of dialogue and description for a one-shot.
The last line was really good...it made the entire story.
