Part of racing - and fighting - is indeed the money/winning. But there's also the adreneline rush that makes you feel like you're on top of the world. There have been studies done on marathon runners and racecar drivers that show how, after you do it enough, you can actually get addicted to that rush, sorta like a natural high. So you join in one more fight, enter one more race, again and again and again. It's unbelieveably hard to stop.

Alright so i really, really like this, and when I like a story I somtimes go overboard with the length of my comment.....
Character-
Ace:She is extremelly cool, I love how you made her story progress over time and that you really built on her personality. I think it is absolutly brilliant.
Ivan:Very cool dude, but has lots of mood swings which I find freakin hilarious. The romance between Ace and him is very cute and I cant wait to see how it progresses
Zoltan:So so so funny, I love his character because he makes me laugh; he isn't afraid to say what everyone else is thinking...AND he is Hungarian which is awesome
Mat:Seems cool, though not much is talked about him.
Xander:In my perspective I think he should go burn in hell, I love how you made his character even though I hate him...if that makes any sense at all.

Plot:
Very brilliant and well thought out. You have an amazing talent for writing, and are very imagenative. Everything is detailed where it should be, and the things that don't need to be detailed aren't. The story doesn't drag on, but it is also decently paced so it doesn't go by so quickly.

Yeah so sorry about the long comment but this is like tradition for me when I like a story I completely break down everything about it and tell the author what I like.
I hope for more soon!

I had a total "awwwwww" moment with this chapter when Ivan hugged her. And then there came this sort of sickening horror because, let's be blunt, this girl is 25, her parents and uncle are dead, and she's more or less spent the last ten years being abused and raped by her trainer. Seeing how Xander doesn't really seem to be the hugging type, this is probably the first real affection somebody's shown her in a full decade.

Scary thought.

I know I'm reading way too far into a fictional story, I just couldn't help myself. xD
