I really loved this. I sort of cried.

I apolosise for the shortness of this comment first, because I feel that if I wrote a longer one I'd just be repeating the same things over and over and...sometimes something concise can be better.

I like that the ending isn't sad. I like that Gerard isn't defined by his disability and that it appears that, in future, he won't let it define him. There is sadness too because he liked to paint and that's no doubt going to be difficult to continue with, if there is a way that he could continue. But it didn't come across as terribly negative.

The writing itself was good as always. You know where to end a scene and put in lapses in time so it moves along at a nice pace and doesn't drag.

[Side note: Green Day just came on TV and made me think of you. xD]
