This is so sweet. I actually lost my grandad to cancer a few years ago, so a lot of this is ringing really true to me when I read it. You've captured the pain, the anguish and that sense of overwhelming bravery that I saw in my grandad when he was going through his treatment and I think that makes this such a powerful piece because even if I hadn't experienced that, you've painted such a heartbreakingly beautiful picture. I'm not a big believer in the afterlife or heaven or hell, but the way that you speak of your dad being up there looking down over you and seeing all of your achievements actually warms me inside. I'd love to think that when people die, they are transported to this paradise where they can look down on the people they left behind.
Honestly, I don't want to fault anything in this. It's sweet, it's lovely and it really is so heartfelt. Amazing!
It was absolutely amazing. It was so emotional and enthralling, and every part of it made me feel like I was there and experiencing the pain you went through. I loved the little memories, the parts about him dying with the determined look on his face, those were absolutely beautiful.
Thanks for sharing that with me. You're an amazing writer, and although I'll try not to give you sympathy, I really do wish you all the best. I'll be letting you know when I've decided on the winners.
