I like this story even though it had only just started. Your writing is detailed yet easy to read at the same time. The message is perfectly conveyed.

You've got to be careful with this type of story, its good for some readers but if you've been around the block a few times its a bit, well, easy to predict. It's also a bit difficult to lump two things,like paranormal/super(ish) powers with royalty. Sometimes they overwhelm each other and actually end up detracting from the story. I'm not seeing any problems witb your writing itself, really at all. Technically speaking this isn't bad. I'm personally just rather wary of reading about characters who shock others early on with their outgoing ways when for some reason everyone just somehow "knows" they don't open up so easily. It just doesn't settle quite right with me, perhaps that's just a personal thing, though!
