I'll have to echo Mel on all of the above. Things I particularly liked: How it was written all in images from her memory. Believe it or not, I think almost entirely in pictures, with a (generally sarcastic) commentary. But most people I've met don't think in pictures all that much. The excellent use of vocabulary. The (as far as I could see - I wasn't looking) completely correct punctuation and spelling. The heavy emotions, subtly shown through the events and her thoughts - they threaten to overpower the almost serene dream-like setting. The way it ended - her stepping into the waves, but stepping into his arms. Absolutely beautiful.
