For starters, your layout is freakin' adorable, really, it makes me smile just looking at it. The kids in the banner look so happy and its super cute. c h a n g e that should be put together.Warm sun gives away to powdery snow gives away to blowing wind. This should be like this: Warm sun gives away to powdery snow which gives way to blowing winds. It flows much better. Also, at nine-eleven years old, I don't think they would know the word douche, maybe butt head would fit more, going for the children theme here. m e l t i n g This should also be put together. Those were the only mistakes I found. Seriously, this is the cutest story I have ever read in my life. I don't even like children and this was able to get a smile out of me. Congrats on that. I love it (:

Okay. I can't even tell you how freaking in love I am with this.

    Like seriously.

I know that this is just a drabble, but this. is. epic. This kind of describes my life back then. Capture the flag was like trying to win a medal of honor. And the way that you described how time moves on, and how capture the flag has lost the appreciation that it used to have, I just loved your description.

Seriously. Love this. And I am subscribing to it to prove it.

    I LIKE THIS LAYOUT!

I think the thing I love most about your writing is that every topic is so unlike the other. So unlike a majority of the topics on this website. You pick topics that no one would really want to write about or would write about and make it something worth reading. I think that's really my favorite thing. Capture the Flag was a game I dreaded playing. Literally, anything with running is the bane of my existence. You're incredible my dear.

Oh, man, this was so nostalgic! I wish I could go back to those days. I love this so much; it's really adorable and it made me tear up at how the years have flown by. I think my favorite part in this entire thing was this: We were screaming. We were all screaming, yelling, chanting. It didn't matter back then, that the vast majority of us thought he was a douche. All that mattered was that he was a fourth grader, and he had the flag. Haha! We always used to do that xD
    Lovely job! <3

    Wow.

This was really different than from what I was expecting.

It was short, but so emotionally powerful. It actually made me really sad, because of the whole childhood ending thing. I loved it!

I was compelled to read another short story by you and I must say I adored this. I remember the days when I thought fifth graders were huge, and then when I thought I ruled the school when I was a fifth grader.

All they care about is that he was a fourth grader...and that if he carries that orange cone we call a flag back to the fourth grade side, the fifth graders will be forever shamed.

Still true to this day, except the numbers are bigger. xD I remeber those days. <3 STUPID 4TH GRADERS.

we are the reigning fifth graders with a title to defend. And staring back at us, in the same position we were in last year, are the new fourth graders.

That line seriously made me tear up because I hate growing up now. Back then, I couldn't wait to be a 5th grader, the ca'ts PJs, ruler of the school. Back then it seemed so amazing to grow up, and now it sucks.

This was amazing. It shows how much times have changed and how the younger generations values have differed from ours. I really, really liked this. Our 'Capture the Flag' game at my school was 'Flag Football', but it was still pretty beast. how I miss those days. <3

    Amazing short. :D

I really loved the detail and the way the seasons changed through the story. I've never played capture the flag, but it seems like a really fun game.

The layout sorta subtracts from the story, though. It shouldn't, but presentation means everything. If you'd like for me to make you a layout, I'd be pleased to do it. :)

Oh my gosh, that was adorable! :) Well, that might not be the word, but the memories that come with it bring back good times! I think everyone can relate to this somehow, and man, what amazing times. I remember capture the flag... I still have the bananas that we used. :')

Anyways, that was really good. :) I love how you explained things and I love the topic of it. It was a refreshing short story, and I definitely enjoyed it! Oh the memories! Hah. :)

I think this pretty much sums a kid's life at that point of age. Anywho, this was beautifully written made more beautiful by the fact that you wrote through the perspective of a girl that had been through this before and longed for those simpler times again. You caught her voice perfectly and gave the story a nostalgic and longing feeling that makes the reader(or me) long for those simpler days again. You had a few spelling errors here and there and I'm not a very big fan of the layout but other than that, this story was great.

Awh! I really loved this. I used to play that game when I was younger as well. It was serious business. xD I love the way it moves so quickly through the years and then ends with the hope that some othe children will continue on the game. It's very nostalgic and really captures how a game so simple can be so big when you're young. Great job, this was beautifully written =]

Ah the memories from not so long ago... nicely written, didn't quiet understand the changing of the seasons unless it was meant to show how the kids would play it all year round, but other than that I liked it a lot :) Is it for a contest?
