First of all, I absolutely adore the layout. I never knew that he had a beagle. And the little pictures to break the story up were perfect and fit everything.
I have never read a story told from the dog's POV on Mibba before, so this was definitely something different. It was in such a different style. The sentences were choppy, but they didn't sound like they were written by a second grader. If anybody else had tried to attempt this, I have no doubt in my mind that it would sound like a little kid. But you pulled it off, Dru. Bravo.
This puppy is so smart, it just breaks my heart. The fact that he knows what Ryan is always feeling, and the way that he got so attached to Brendon. He can feel emotions and understand words. Some of his translations were hilarious, too. Like how he thought that the phone is called a bone. I wonder if he'll ever get it right.
Hobo seems to really admire his owner, and I love the titles. Daddy & Mommy. I never would have compared a puppy to a toddler any day before this, but now I could see the comparison. This story holds so many mysteries, in a way, because dogs can't figure out everything. The poor dog doesn't know that Ryan is smoking pot or drinking alcohol. Just like a little kid wouldn't have realized that their parents are smoking/drinking.
I think that this story is really different from anything else that I've read, and you did a great job. Love you and your writing, Dru! Well done!
