yay, you updated! and you mentioned me, which is obviously so nice of you, thank you so much for that!!
i don't comment on a ton of things but whenever i do it's generally because i really do like the content and i try to make sure whatever i have to say gives the writer legitimate feedback. but that's just me, so if this gets too excessive/wordy let me know and i'll shut up.
so the cool thing with ivy in this chapter is that it's reiterated that she gives absolutely no fucks. like, trying to call this guy you haven't seen in seven years that you just got barely reacquainted with at a party, and on top of that trying to go to his former house just so you won't have to wait around for him to contact you? (and then advertising your mom's cafe to the couple now living there?) bad ass. aside from that, an 8am history class full of freshman sounded horrendous before forrest decided to just show up all casually like "hey i just so happen to be going to your school now we should talk later i know where you parked." i'm interested to see what his explanation for hiding out the entire summer is going to be, and whether or not ivy is going to believe him. i feel like she's the type of character to take no shit.
this story has a really cool, ominous vibe to it. like i was sucked in immediately. the fact that ivy was so drunk on her birthday, that she gets along with her foster mom and still recognizes how she feels like a kid at 20 makes her really likable to me. you established the fact that she isn't just some boring, flawlessly damaged protagonist but rather kind of quirky and optimistic and flawed, and that makes everything more three-dimensional and interesting. she seems to have made light of a traumatizing situation, and that is a very human thing. i'm wondering a ton about ian/what prompted the whole drowning incident, and i'm excited to see whether or not he reappears at some point. the scene where her parents go missing in the woods and he just drives away along with the drowning scene were both very chilling. i'm also wondering a lot about forrest and i like the little bond he and ivy seem to have/hints at a past you've created between the two. you give the reader the information and details that are instrumental to the plot as the story develops but still leave them asking questions, which is (in my opinion anyway) in and of itself, good writing. one last thing and then i'll shut up: creating a blog to develop your characters/show them to your audience exactly as you want them to be represented? absolutely brilliant. all in all this is very well done and i'm stoked to see how it develops.
This was really interesting to start getting into. I want to start off by saying that I've never really been into the whole "werewolves and fairies" thing that you're going for, but regardless of that: this is incredibly eye-catching and well written. You might just be the author to change my mind. The theme is excellent, your writing style flows nicely from idea to idea, and the characters are immediately relatable - I can almost see each of them in my mind. I cannot wait to see where this goes, and I'll definitely be following along. Best wishes.
This is really interesting, I'm not going to lie. I like the way this is written out and I really do want to read more. So, please, I can't wait for another update. This is just simply lovely and well, intriging.
