I know I'm a little late to discover this story, but I'm absolutely obsessed with it. The way you write both the thoughts of your characters, and their dialogue just makes them seem so real. You're a fabulous writer! I hope you do come back to this story and update it once again because I can't wait to see what's going to happen next. :)

Nothing like having a bitch of an ex that borders on insane. Making it worse is hiding that from the public and protecting both his child and his live in young girl friend from her craziness. Nothing like giving your main characters hurdles to jump. Something tells me if anyone can get past it, it would be Jose.

Still I kind of feel for the crazy ex - she didn't realize what she had till it was gone and then he hooks up with Imogene - why not have the baby and try to get him back. Women do that kind of shit all the time without being crazy. It's a valid plan I suppose if your pregnant and want to be with the babies father. I suppose the sad part of it all is that she wasn't prepared to be a mom, to pick up that role even though her plan didn't work out. Sad for the baby really.

I also give Jose a lot of credit. It's nice to see a man that loves his child enough to jump through hoops for her, to deal with her mother as respectfully as he does when she doesn't deserve it. He does that all for Estella and that's a really amazing thing. He also sought out this advice just because he knows she'd have a better life without her mother being involved

“She's in school,” I tell him, and he immediately frowns.
    “High school?”
“What? Hell no!” I laugh uncomfortably. “What the fuck kind of person do you think I am?
    - - OMG so fucking funny!!!!!

Advising him to get married is solid advice from an attorney. Still I find it sad that it means pushing a young relationship forward so quickly. Something tells me if Imogene understands what this means that she'd marry him in heartbeat whether it's too soon or not. It'll be interesting to see how this all comes out and how she reacts.

    Looking forward to more.

    Chapter 8
I should tell you that I was reading this in class today. My friend sees Jose and says, "What the fuck are you doing? You're a Phillies fan that cheats with Garrett Jones." I thought it was funny and I was completely busted. People know me too well.

For the record, I totally love Donato. He says what I am always thinking. I like Jose, but he does kind of have the best of both worlds, this young girl taking care of his kid and servicing his needs, but only he says it in such a way that I could spit out my drink. Nice Donato. I also really like the baseball humor.

“I haven't been getting my hopes up about no such thing. I'm only twenty years old. I still have three years of school left and...” I feel the need to point out that this is a double negative - a Freudian slip perhaps?

For the most part I think Donato is right and I love the humor he uses to tell her like it is, but I do feel bad for her. She's young and she's caught up in something bigger than her with real life consequences. This isn't her dating - living with her college professor, this is Jose Bautista - it's a big fucking deal. Of course she doesn't know which end is up - who plans for the kind of relationship she's in. Well fan girls do - but they expect puppies and rainbows.

“It's not like he's saying 'tell your family or we're through'. He's given you an option. Total honesty means you get the wood. Being a wimpy little bitch means you don't. Simple as.” - - Totally classic line!

I really like Donato. He lightens this story up while still getting his point across. Can't wait to read Ch 9.

How you write people amazes me! The lawyer, Eddie, is so straightforward about everything. I can see him being this big shot lawyer that hardly looses a case. And I'm actually a bit intimidated by him.
I loved this chapter! I love the insight we have on Jose's thoughts on marriage and his relationships. I just hope that he doesn't have to marry Imogene to get custody of his daughter. That's not fair that his ex would turn everything around on him. But yet, when is anything in life ever fair?
I loved it and I cannot wait for more!

Yea for an update!!! I am very interested to see where Jose goes with this, if he will ask Imogene to marry him. I also think the baby mama is going to cause some major issues here soon! Loved this chapter!

How exciting (and a little nerve wracking!) that your son is starting school! Hope everything goes smoothly :)

I think Jose is a good, well rounded person for wanting to provide a good home for his daughter. Any parent would go out of their way to do something like that. I also think that him and Imogene could stay together in the long run so that the baby had a stable home environment.

Take as long as you need to update.

I don't think I can express how much I love Donato. He is an absolutely perfect friend. He jokes around and can be serious at the same time! I love the relationship he and Imogene have, it's absolutely adorable! And oh my goodness, if Imogene and Jose had babies, they would be so cute, all of them together. They would be a perfect little family! I loved the chapter! It was amazing! <3

Ohhh Ginger Latino babies would be a very interesting mix. I think it would be adorable.
I absolutely love these two together, they are absolutely perfect. He looks after her and she is just great with Estella! I think Jose and Imogene have a good thing going on and I really hope her family doesn't make everything hard for them.
I loved the chapter! It was amazing! <3

Wow - I can really relate to Imogene an the age different. Having a bf who is so much older - the things he finds juvenile or that he's just done with are things she (and I) are supposed to be doing at our age. It's not always easy, and sometimes it just feels like playing house - playing dress up.

That was seriously some first date - and I totally give him credit for protecting her identity - in the long run, she's the one that would take the brunt of the backlash - and there is always backlash when it comes to this type of situation. No matter who he dates, but also because everyone still thinks he's with the mother of his baby.

The way he put her at ease, showing her what a normal guy he was seemed like just another way that he's taking care of her. They really do seem to have a connection, which is probably pretty rare considering they aren't sleeping together and their age difference. It seems as though he actually sets her at ease, makes her comfortable in her own skin. They really do make an excellent couple.

I do feel bad for her, wondering if she is good enough, mature enough to handle what everyone finding out will mean, but I also think her wondering those things is a sign of her maturity. 90% of the girls out there would feel totally confident, figuring they totally deserved where they were and who they were with and they'd fall flat on their face.

This was a nice chapter - good to see their interaction - get to see more Jose and Imogene. I wonder about this past relationship she had - I wonder if that is just in the past or if that will have some impact on the story. Can't wait for more.

I'm coming out from behind my silent reader wall, just for you. I really do love this story and like I said on tumblr, José and Imogene are fantastic characters. The complex plots that you create always keep me coming back for more. I hope you update again soon! :]

I'm happy to see that she truly understands her situation, that she recognizes that she isn't a wealth of knowledge when it comes to love and sex. Jose has been through it. I'm glad to see that despite her young age, she is mature enough to take what he said to heart. I'm glad she's more than a spoiled brat who can only see things from her own perspective. I've put off facing my family for long enough and it's time to pull up my big girl pants. I have a lot to prove. Both to myself and to Jose. But mostly to the latter. There's no way I'm losing him. Not because of my own stupidity and immaturity or my family's bats hit insanity. And definitely not to his ex girlfriend. - - Good for you!!!!

“And then you can take her home and take me out on a date. A real date. As in 'you have to wear a suit and a tie' kind of date. One that starts with me being a virgin and ends with me no longer one.” - - LOVE THIS. I'm really looking forward to how this goes down. I know he has his reasons for not having sex with her, but part of me can't help but wonder if he isn't a bit scared himself. Maybe he's afraid to hurt her, maybe he's afraid what it will ultimately mean, but I still thing he's afraid of something.

I'm really looking forward to her telling her family. I wonder if it'll be funny or scary or how it will go. I don't suspect they'll all react the same way, so it'll be fun to see what you do with it. I know the next chapter is close. Looking forward to it.
