You've got a good start! I'm looking forward to reading more. Just one comment re: name consistency - you seem to switch back and forth between Vanessa and Victoria for the friend's name. In chapter 1 she's Vanessa, except for in this line: "Victoria followed her gaze from the interrupted Max to the remaining guys at the table." In chapter 2 she's Victoria.
