Beginning of Something - Comments

I love your work you know I do! Buuut I swear on my life I've read this EXACT story someplace else a long time ago. I mean by the end of the second chapter I was basically skimming because I already knew what was going to happen

The theme, unfortunately, seems very common. Maybe there might be something you could do to make it a little more original. Also, I noticed that you tend to jump tenses a lot, i.e. using "reaching" while later you use "jolted". One is current and the other is passed, so you might want to go back through and fix what you can about that. In addition, some of your wording looks to me like you're trying to hard to sound smart. Don't worry about that, just write the way you normally would :) I sincerely apologize if this is not the case with your writing. Keep working, you can only get better :)

Grace Dunne: I just skimmed through chapter one and I must admit that it has resemblance to mine. But are the other chapters the same? It is that uncommon to start a time-travelling story with the traveler popping out of nowhere from the future? Because that was the only way I could think of starting it to leave the readers puzzled. My story is inspired by my discontinued story, He Caught My Eye, but just with the element of time-travelling in it. Anyone who has read HCMY before would find that the character's personalities are similar.

Grace Dunne: I must clarify that I have never read anything on Mibba (nor books) like this because I have not been on Mibba for a good 2-3 years after I discontinued my previous story. The only reason why I came back on this site is to post this. The only similar thing I can think of is probably that one time I watched the movie "The Time Traveller's Wife" after I started this. But that was only because I received some comments that this reminds people of it. I think that time-travelling is quite a common theme. I understand your concern though. Thank you for the comment.

So... I need a long comment on here. Getting inspiration from someone else's work is one thing. Copying the entire premise of the story is another. Now, I'm not accusing you of anything, but you need to make sure that your work is your own. You always want to put your best foot forward and this is not the way to do it.
