ok there is so much blame to go around here, but ironically, the only one really without blame is Tess!
Elie should not have butted in - yes, she felt that she was doing the right thing by telling Tess, but it was not her secret to tell. It only made her look like she still had an axe to grind with Tess and her past behaviour where Jordan is concerned.
Jordan should not have unburdened himself to Elie. Yes I know that people in committed relationships theoretically shouldnt keep secrets, but that does not always work. Especially in this case where the interested parties are so "insestuously" connected. Jordan unintentionally put Elie in a no-win situation to ease his own conscience. This was a recipe for disaster!
And Sidney - yes, he is angry at both Elie and Jordan, but he really has to look in the mirror to see who is ultimately to blame for this train wreck. He cheated. And then he compounded the betrayal by not telling Tess. Would she have forgiven him...given her history with cheating, probably not, but the final nail in his coffin was telling Jordan. The guy Tess used to be with. Jordan should have been the LAST person Sid should have unburdened himself to. I know he thought he had a logical reason for doing so, but now Tess not only has to deal with the cheating, she has to deal with the embarrassment of knowing that others had been talking about this behind her back - for weeks!!
Can all of this be saved...well Elie has a lot to make up to Jordan, but I think they love each other enough to work through the rough patches. Sidney will have to some how reconcile his relationship with Jordan - for the sake of the team. Once the intially anger subsides, I really hope that Sidney realizes that the responsibility of this is on his shoulders. To be quite honest, his accepting responsibility is the ONLY chance he has of getting Tess to forgive him.
Oh, jeez.. I understand she wants to do the right thing and it bugs her, but honestly, that was a BIG mistake. I can't even - UGHHH. I wonder how Jordan's going to respond to this especially after he trusted her not to do anything.
I don't think she should have blurted that out. Clearly Tess didn't want to know so she should have let it go or went and talked to Sid to see if he would tell her because now she will look like she was just trying to mess up that relationship because of what happened with Jordan....revenge
Adorable chapter - I think it says a lot about Ellie's character that after everything that Tess has done to her she would still try to 'help' her, even if it hurts her. And of course can't go wrong with Jordan in a towel ;)
I think it is good that she tried to tell her. Even though it might have seemed like she was just trying to hurt her, I don't think that was it at all. I think that she genuinely cared. I can't wait to see if Sid actually tells Tess or not
Just read this entire story (and the prequel last night!) and I am absolutely in love with it! I love how you have ups and downs without it coming across like a soap opera - the characters deal with things in such a rational and "human" way that they really seem like real people, which is awesome to read! I can't wait to see what's coming next!!
And I agree with your "rant" - I'm really going to miss Jordan as a Pen - that's my favorite hockey team and he's my favorite hockey player, but at the same time he's doing what's best for him. He and Eric have only played on the same team once before, and there's the opportunity to play with Jared as well. By turning down the contract he wasn't disrespecting Ray Shero or the penguins - he'd wanted to play this coming year and see where that left him. Had the Penguins offered him a more short-term contract I think he would have re-signed with them, and then looked for the opportunity to play with Eric or Marc. Either way I think I'm going to have to up my attention on the Hurricanes!!
I totally agree with your rant. He has said that he would like to play with his brothers and this was an opportunity to do that. Also, 10 years is a big commitment. Who know what would happen in that kind of time frame, and Carolina is a good team for him to get traded to. At least he has family there so he won't be totally alone in the move there. He just got married and I guess if there was a good time to move somewhere else, now would be it
