Maudlin Melody - Comments

  • I don't know how to feel about Mikey getting asked out! I don't know if I would trust Addison, but I think I kind of want them to give it a try, but then... SO MANY EMOTIONS.

  • First off, I would like to state that I know Mikey is spelled without a c in this story. I just see a K and automatically thing a C must go before it because it looks normal. You should see me trying to spell cake half the time.
So, I didn't think it could get any more awesome creepy but it did. I have a mild case of dyslexia, so I'm a bit weirded out right now, But in the good way.
I'm no sure about rich guy, I know he means well, but I just don't like him. Maybe it's because I think Rich is kind of a slimy name. I'm not sure, but he kind of concerns me in a way.
Can I just say that I love Josh? Though he may have messed up a bit, he had the courage and heart to apologize for something that he very well knew he may never be forgiven for. He just went in there with a mission, he knew what he had to do and he did it. I love that, kind of admire it in a way.
I love how it was so easy for Josh to make friends with Mikey. Josh's easy going attitude totally complements Mikey's awkwardness(reluctance to open up? Inability too?) in a way that I can't describe. It sort of covers it up, but at the same time it brings out the charm in it all. And I love how Josh wasn't some whiney bitch when it came to the dyslexia! He didn't feel patronized or anything that Mickey offered to read to him, he just went with it.
I would have commented sooner, but my computer is down. I probably wont be able to read the next few updates, and I know that fact will keep me up at night just wondering what happens next. Grah, computers frustrate me.

  • I can already tell I'll be spending every extra second of my day waiting for updates. I love how Mickey is realistically awkward, it doesn't sound like it's someone trying, it just is. Like how he was slightly worried at the gig or party, people actually think like that. Well, at least I do. I kinda want to see how he acts with his friends, to see what he's like in a more natural setting. Though Mickey how we've seen him so far has a sort of charm, someone that you can't help but love. And his relationship with his brother, I can't describe that. I love how worried Harry was, how he wasn't talking like a douche and suggesting that they try to hide it, he was ready to take the blame not pawn it off or sweep anything under the rug. He;s sort of noble, I guess is a way to phrase it.
I can actually really relate to Mickey just much that it's creepy. Like how he went to his first concert with his brother(or for him) and I went with my sister, or how he decided to stand away from a crowd of people instead of try to socialize or really blend in. Also, my brother's name is Mickey, so it was that much more weird.
These chapters are long, but that's not bad! I love it because it's an amazing story that I didn't want to stop reading and the long chapters are just perfect. Though I'm still disappointed when a chapter ends, it's amazing. The only bad thing is that it took me a little bit to get that each time it says Maudlin Melody was a break. Oh, I love the title.
I can't really say how much I love this or exactly why because I'm awful with words, but my god. I fell in love with a mass of words, that I didn't know was possible.
Greh, sorry my comment is all mixed up and long.

  • You really captured being awkward. It's like I'd finally decided to take a step into the water and somebody else came along and dropped me in the middle of the ocean. It's really relateable. I just love it! I hope you update soon!

  • I think this is a pretty interesting premise and I enjoy the raw feeling to it. A word of advice would be to watch the dialogue a little bit as it felt a little too overwhelming and forced for me.

On a personal level, I thank you for bringing in some of the LGBTQ culture/characters of that community and normalizing them rather than playing them off as too strange or campy. It's a nice change from some of the other things I have seen on this site. I am looking forward to reading more, happy writing.
