Okay, I'm already wary of this story because I have a phobia of spiders. The concept of arachnids the size of elephants makes ny stomach churn.
It all sounds a bit fairy tale though--in a good way. The concept is very interesting, just unappealing to me due to a long running fear of spiders. Your prologue does a nice job of setting the scene for your story though.
