Broken Strings and Broken Dreams - Comments

Wow... this story...
This story has to be one of the greatest I've read, in a long time.
Lately I've been struggling to find Alex stories that actually hold my attention, and not make me give up after five chapters, but with this one, I definitely wanted to keep reading. :) I just randomly stumbled across it and decided to check it out, and I'm so glad I did.
I mean, it's a classic high school story, shy girl meets outgoing/bad-boy type, but even though that's been used before, there was something different about this one.
I loved how all of a sudden Alex started noticing her, and how he acted shy around her, despite his outgoing demeanor. It was just so sweet. :') As I was reading this, I experienced butterflies along with Madilynn, which, let me tell you, rarely happens for me. So many authors mention those butterflies and it's just like, okay. I love how descriptive this is, and so, I was able to feel Madi's emotions as she felt them. That just makes you a spectacular writer, for making those emotions go through more than just in writing.
I also love how mature the main character is. Chapter 8, for example, had a real standout moment for me with her:
"No, you need to stop. I don't care about your past with those girls and the parties. I don't care if you like to party or drink. I like you. Your past is just that, your past. It has nothing to do with me. I can't judge you for things that happened when I didn't exist to you." I ranted and I saw his eyes shut as he let out a large breath.
I love how she was able to decipher judgement on this. She didn't judge Alex for his past, because she didn't know him then. That takes a real sense of maturity and I just loved that; I feel like in a lot of other stories, when the character or characters worry about Alex's past, they're not able to see past it. But she does and that is seriously the sweetest thing, and this part... gah, it just made me love her character even more. :)
This is seriously an amazing story, and I'm really bummed it was never continued/completed. I'm wondering what was going to happen with the two of them. At one point, you had a bit of foreshadowing, where Madi was looking in from the future and said about how they ultimately "crash and burn." :O Like, what? What was the plan for that, I'm wondering. Or well, I'm not sure how far in the future she was talking I guess, so it might've just referred to one of the falling out moments we saw after that was mentioned? I'm not sure. But I just assumed in the end of their overall relationship. :/
I mean, I really hope that doesn't happen, because I seriously just love them together. <3 Their relationship is so real and so sweet, and the fact that Alex keeps reflecting back on the fact that he wishes he would've stepped up sooner so they could have been together a lot longer.... <3 Gosh, just melt my heart.
It's been a little while since this story was last updated, I realized. 2013... so five years come October. But, I wanted to leave this comment to hopefully maybe inspire you to continue it someday. I would love to see an ending for these two. :) And with all the work you put into the story, it'd be a shame to see that it was never finished.
That being said though, I can understand losing inspiration, or being busy (I'm thinking it's the latter that probably happened, based on your author's notes). So, since it has been a while, it's probably a lot to ask to see that this is continued or completed, and I totally understand. But I still wanted to leave feedback to thank you for writing this story. I rarely stumble across stories like this, where I feel the main character's emotions so distinctly. You are an amazing writer, and definitely deserve more credit (I'm surprised this story only ever got 15 comments, like, what? But I see you definitely got the recs you deserved <3).
At the very least, I hope you get on and see my comment. I'm officially subscribed (100!) and wanted to let you know I will be here to leave feedback if you ever choose to continue this. :) I really hope you do.
