I came across this story, and I'll be honest, I just quickly skimmed the three chapters, not really expecting much, but something caught my interest within the last chapter, and I'm really not sure what. I went back and read it carefully, and really liked where this is going.
In just three chapters, you made me love Maxine because she seems like a very straight forward character that's on her own path, just trying to get away (well, that's how I see it.). She's developing quite well, and I can only hope she develops as the story continues.
Your writing style is nice, too. It's descriptive, yet easy to follow without the stuffiness of words that would mess up the flow. I like the first person point of view, and I usually don't, but it fits the story well.
This isn't a big deal, but I feel like the layout is a little bland, and makes the story seem a little 'boring', but that can easily be fixed. But no worries if you don't want to. What really matters is the quality of the story.
