Well I know this is an old story but I did not like the ending at all! She has cancer and all he cares about is his damn hockey! I know she told him to leave but he should have overridden her protests, found out where she was, and stayed with her!

Steph, the ending was so sad! It's sad to think that this could be a real situation for a professional hockey player. There are a lot of people who couldn't deal with the long hours and time away that hockey players have to deal with, and I imagine many of their loved ones struggle with these same thoughts and emotions that Sarah was going through. I can’t imagine having an illness and having someone that I love not be able to be there for me! But I’m so glad David is going to make it right, but it’s sad that he has to give up hockey to be able to do it!

Wow, you had me trying not to bawl at the end of this! I like how without going into tons of detail you really give a sense of their relationship - the rocky and tumultuous side of it while still knowing that these two people obviously love each other. The ending is what had me ready to bawl - her goodbye sounded far too final for just a 'goodbye', which had me sniffling; I'm a sucker for the whole 'prince sweeps in and carries her off to the sunset' thing, but somehow this seemed to fit the story, if that makes sense. Awesome job!

I really enjoyed this. Especially the ending because it leaves you wondering where he's going to go. I'm assuming Czech, of course, but it's nice to dream that he's flying to where she is. The quote, "you don't know what you have until it's gone." comes to mind. Pity that he didn't fight harder for her. Thanks for sharing your amazing writing talent (: please do inform me if you write more for this story! I'd love to see what you'd do (:
