I think the ending worked but I can see why you would think it wouldn't.
But because you'd never ended a story-story wit sex you had to try it some time.

That story was really good. I didn't expect for it to end there but the ending was good.

Ah, well I guess it's over now. That really sucks; I think you could have made this into quite the story, maybe not as long as AIYHSB, but still pretty good. I would have liked to see a bit more information about how Mikey transformed when he started taking his medication.
I think you should definitely write some more Frikey in the future; it's incredebly underrated, and not enough people write it. :)

As for the ending; I think it did work, but I think it would have been a bit better if there actually wasn't sex. I expected it to be more like the last few paragraphs; just them talking about what they'd been through and such. That's just my humble opinion though.

All in all, this was a good story; you did a rather good job of portraying bipolarism and how it can affect your relationship with those around you. I think the story was a slight bit fast paced, but nothing too serious. :)
