Obsessed as usual with this story. I can't wait to see Sid fawning over super preggo Mom or picking out baby clothes. I can see him enjoying that haha. Can't wait for more! You are an awesome updater!
Re: ch. 56 - she won't be able to take hot hot baths past the first trimester. It can cause blood pressure issues, possibly fainting, and raising core body temp when pregnant isn't a good idea.
Re: the boobs. Yeah, Sid, and she may be sensitive all pregnancy. ANd then if she's nursing, she may not want you playing with the boobs, then, too. Some women get tired of people touching, grabbing, and sucking on their boobs. For that matter, he may not want to. Most guys don't mind 'sharing' but for some it totally creeps them out when they realize the boobs are actually feeding tools and not just fun things that exist for their own pleasure.
I'm glad that they're starting to talk about her working. I hope he can get it through his thick head instead of just hoping to basically disenfranchise her. She needs to be able to balance home and work. Some, many women, are not cut out to be housewives. It's hell to some. So he needs to get a dose of reality that she has a brain and if she wants to use it professionally, she's going to do so and it's ok and even good that she does so. Ain't nobody happy if mama ain't happy, as the saying goes.
Of course, to do so, he's gonna have to get his head out of his ass and stop making it ALL ABOUT HIM. Really, kid, not attractive. You can't wrap her up in bubble wrap for 10 months, and your protective desires are seriously starting to read as creepy and controlling.
Oh, and she needs to keep eating small meals. Leaving her stomach empty after vomiting is bad, as it tends to lead to more vomiting. The amount of alcohol that goes into the bloodstream when gargling mouthwash is trivial. Drs. in France suggest that women ingest no more than one glass of red wine per day; American puritanical science can take stuff too far. As my midwife said, pregnant moms in Japan don't stop eating fish much less sushi. Pregnant moms in France eat soft cheeses and cheeses made from raw, unpasteurized milk, and they drink a little wine (a friend's pregnant sister said that her doctor prescribed a glass of wine to keep her relaxed her last trimester). Pregnant women in Africa eat peanuts. 99.9997% of pregnant women will have no issues from eating lunchmeat that haven't been heated to steaming (and let me tell you, most lunchmeats taste like crap after microwaving). You don't have to go off caffeine entirely, one to two cups is perfectly fine and safe in general.
Being pregnant is stressful enough. Having people police your body and your diet is enough to madden a woman. And EVERYBODY thinks they get a say on what you should do at any given moment when you're pregnant if you don't tell them to back off. It's amazing how a quickly multiplying clump of cells somehow gives people the right to stop treating you like a sentient being and instead as just a freaking incubator. I, uh, didn't suffer fools much and let me tell you, people did NOT come up to me and touch my belly without permission. Nobody told me more than once not to eat x, y, or z. I hope she's the same way.
Personally, I had SERIOUS cravings for sushi. Serious cravings, I'd dream about maki rolls. I mean, I ate more sushi in 9 months than I had in the previous couple decades, I think. And the kid came out with no more than the standard set of eyes and toes and such, all systems go.
Re: ch. 54. I love how she's the superstar at the university and everyone is all, "Sidney who? Oh, right, the beefcake boytoy." And that really reads true, too, IME. In academia, many if not most academics wouldn't have a clue who he is. The majority of the rest wouldn't care; for that matter, the ones who are sports fans probably have allegiances to other teams. Just because they live in Pittsburgh doesn't mean that they are fans of the local teams.
Oh, dear god, re: Ch 53. Sidney is continuing to NOT get it. How does he not understand that she more than likely is not planning on giving up her career? His blinders are just enormous here, and it's really sad to see how he's not honoring and respecting her or her career goals in pushing both the kids issue before she was ready and now already planning on having her quit before she even got started. How hurtful she will find this! Especially since it sounds like he wants to keep her knocked up, lactating, or knocked up and lactating for the next 5-10 years. Jesus. Already planning #2 and thinking that she'll be satisfied with babies and keeping house when she's not even 6 weeks pregnant with #1.
So disrespectful. So not honoring her hopes and dreams. So putting his wants and needs above and ahead of hers.
@ Marinesister92 Thank you so much for the feedback. This is my first story of any kind so feedback is very much appreciated. Let me know if the dialogue thing gets better or doesn't. I tried to make it easier to read as I went and hope I was successful.
I just wanted to give a little comment. I'm only half way through right now, chapter fourteen to be exact. sometimes i get so engrossed in the story that i don't comment until i'm caught up because i like to read everyone's comments. Any how. I just thought i'd finally give some feed back since i broke the trance. First, love it. you don't get many that deal with the ins and outs of the concussion like you have here. I'm still a little disappointed that she gave up her life just like that but then she does simple things like finding his fathers rookie card and i'm like that's why she gave it up so easily.
I don't know if any one has ever mentioned this but sometimes understanding who is talking to who can get confusing because it's all in the same paragraph (I don't know if this has changed in later chapters) But sometimes seperating out the dialog into new paragraphs when other people speak makes it easier to read. I often have to re read and figure out who is speaking. Just a tip not necessarily a must change.
I also wanted to say that I love that you have had real trauma involved nothing that seems just outrageous for a story but nothing to minimal that its just like get over it.
love it and can't wait to read more of it. -S (your silent reader for a week who still hasn't cuaght up)
Wow. So I'm only half way through your story and I gotta say it's not what I expected at all! I'd seen this story around for a bit around the site, but the title and the summary didn't really appeal to me. I thought the story was about an actual doctor and it was focusing more on the concussion. I'll have to say that I'm glad that I gave it a chance, because it's great! I'm a sucker for stories like these, (the not so depressing). It's very relatable and I like the way you're able to character build. Keep it up!
