I feel silly for just reading this now! Took me long enough. c;
As cliche as it might seem, I also like how quickly they connect. It comes off as very genuine and I feel like this could indeed happen, unlike those obnoxious stories where they get a glimpse of one another and practically have sex right then and there. That's super annoying.
But you've totally sidestepped that and made Billie and Katie quite realistic whilst still giving off the impression of possible love at first sight.

It feels different and for once you've described Billie in high school as I imagined him, although I imagined him and Mike to be joined at the hip.
