As much as I love Mike, I wanna punch him for using Olivia like that.

I was leaning more toward siding with Mike before this chapter, but now...he can go to hell. He is such an asshole! It's bad enough that he cheated on this Rebecca girl, but to do it with Olivia, who is obviously not in the place - emotionally or mentally - to deal with this bullshit is just...super skeevy. I hope when shit goes down between him and Rebecca, she sets him straight.

It's kind of cold how his own brother openly admitted that he's not worth the tears Olivia was shedding. It's very true, but I still cringed a bit when I read that line. Even his own brother is done with his nonsense.

I'm still annoyed with Olivia for pulling this bad bitch act, but I also feel so bad for her. I always feel bad for her because, well, her life kind of sucks, losing her fiance and all, but now I really feel bad for her. She really does not need to be dealing with so much drama right now. I think she should just avoid Mike completely and move on.

@selfish machine - I completely understand where you're coming from. That was the point, in fact, for Olivia to really lose herself and become this whole new badass in order to deal with her problems because she had held it together for so long and had never really dealt with any of it.

As for Mike, this is what I've learned about boys in my short little encounters with them- they get way more attached than we can ever imagine, in fact, I think guys get more attached to girls than we do them. However, they also have humongous egos and if something goes south, they have no idea how to process it rather than to ignore that person until their feelings are resolved. I've seen this happen to me or friends of mine on more than one occasion; I'm not saying it's right...but I'm saying it's in the nature of men to be that way. They need to withdraw into themselves to heal, although I do agree that the fact that he didn't even send her one measly text in almost a year was pretty horrible.

But don't you worry, escapists never get far and neither will Olivia in this new avatar of her's. I promise. :D

I am not okay with this at all. Maybe this is because I've become such a bitter bitch as of late, but I am so annoyed with both Olivia and Mike right now, especially Olivia. And then the end of the chapter...nope.

I can't believe Mike really had the nerve to ignore Olivia for nearly a year. I understand that he was pissed that everyone seemed to be placing the blame for his and Olivia's "break up" solely on him. I also understand that he was upset that Olivia pushed him away. But I don't understand why he thought the solution to all of that was to just cut Olivia out of his life and completely ignore her.

And then Olivia...frustrating Olivia... This whole detached 'I do what I want because I'm a bad bitch' attitude and way of life that she's seemed to have adopted is not cute. Just because she's hurting from losing both Johnny and Mike doesn't mean she needs to go out and get wasted and have one night stand after one night stand. The fact that she honestly thinks she can outrun her emotional problems by just ignoring them frustrates me to no end for some reason that I can't even explain.

And while I want Olivia and Mike to get back together, I don't necessarily like the conditions of their reunion. They're both hurting and hooking up is probably the worst thing that they can do in their current state of hurting.

I'm sorry if I sound like a complete bitch or whatever. Please know that it has nothing to do with the quality of your writing (in fact, I really enjoy that in this story) or anything like that. I just want Olivia and Mike to be happy again and they're not doing that, so it gets me upset.

I totally agree with you, I tried to create a situation where the two characters both couldn't be with each other, for differing reasons, each with their own history and demons to get through before they could meet each other in the middle.

I think the reason Livvy feels selfish is because for a year she has basically let everyone around her take "care" of her, you know? She's a nurse, not to mention, so usually its her taking care of other's and that's a critical part of who she is. However, once the accident happened and she sort of lost herself, she's been looked out for by all her friends and family and I think that realization dawned on her all at once. Not to mention, when you're usually sad at things, like for example if you had a fight with your friend or something like the Mike situation that has to do with a boy, I think every girls first instinct is to blame herself, rather than carefully assess the situation. I don't know why but women, and people in general even, are so much more willing to take the fall than just simply look at a situation objectively.

Well, shit. I was upset with Mike for sleeping around with a bunch of girls...until I read the last paragraph of the fifth chapter. I can totally understand where he's coming from with what he said, but I hadn't thought about looking at it from his perspective until I read his little speech. The possibility of him really wanting to settle down with Liv never really crossed my mind; I was under the impression that he hadn't wanted anything too serious with her, either, because of touring and all of that. But now I feel bad for him because it does seem like everyone is placing the blame solely on him, and that's not fair. Though, that's not to say that he should be sticking his dick in any willing female that crosses his path, either.

Maybe this just makes me a selfish bitch like Liv seems to think she is, but I don't understand why she feels that way. Mike was well-aware of what he was getting himself into when those two starting talking. He knew that Liv had lost her fiance and he had to have known that something like that could severely damage a person, emotionally. So I don't understand why Liv thinks she was selfish to let him in, then sort of push him away again. Something like that was bound to happen and they both should have been aware of that.

I'm torn on who to - for lack of a better term - side with in this situation. I feel bad for Mike because this screwed up relationship has obviously taken a toll on him, but I'm also frustrated with him because pushing Liv away isn't the way to deal with the situation. He should just talk to her. And then on the other hand, I also feel bad for Liv. It's bad enough that she'd lost her fiance, but now to lose the guy who could help her feel whole again? That just plain sucks. I just want to give them both a big hug, then lock them in a room together and not let them out until they work everything out and confess their love for each other!

And to answer your question, I'd love to see this story get updated daily, but I know how difficult that can be. So really, it doesn't matter to me, though I do lean a little bit more to the 'update daily' side.
