It was never meant to be continued but I appreciate the sentiment.

I love this first chapter. It reminds me of a short-lived tv series I liked called, "Dead Like Me." I truly hope you continue this story.

This is a really interesting and unique take on death. I don't think I've read anything quite like it before so kudos to you for coming up with something as original as this.

What really interested me is the fact that you've almost...I don't know, you've managed to make Death seem completely human. Most see him as this relentless and completely evil creature, but you've given him a conscience of sorts in this and I absolutely love that. I like that he does try and leave the people in the hospitals as long as he can, but in the end, he's just doing a job. You've given a heart to a very heartless subject and I really do commend you for that. Not a lot of people could pull that off as beautifully as you've managed here.

Your description really is stunning, you paint such a vivid picture, from Death's car (a fantastic touch - I love that he drives an older model!) right down to the littlest reactions that you've added in from previous passengers. Everything just seems perfect, it reads really well and everything flows really well. This definitely feels like a published piece of work.

I'm really interested to see where you take this if you do continue it. I think this could become a really interesting multi-chaptered story and I hope to see more!

Dru, this is absolutely beautiful. Stories that revolve around death are my favorite type of stories because it allows me to know the insights that other people have about the afterlife or of how they feel about dying. In Mexico, we make fun of death every 2nd of November; it's a tradition that lets death know that we know we're gonna kick the bucket soon, but that we still enjoy our lives and will continue to live on after she takes us. I think you portrayed it wonderfully, a guy with a job he's grown so used to that he no longer questions anything; it's a routine for death now, even though he wished that the ones who go were not the innocent ones.

This sort of reminded me about this book called Damned by Chuck Palahniuk; the main character is taken to hell by a chauffeur who is not allowed to tell her anything about hell, only make it easier for her to adjust. This is one of my favorite books and that you had a similar premise drew me in; however, once I read it it was nothing like I imagined; it has this soft feeling, this nostalgia attached to it that makes it more realistic and easier for the reader.

I have to ponder if you do choose to continue it, what point of view would you take, still death? Or perhaps death reminiscing about certain people he has taken.

I'm subscribing in hopes of reading more.

I'm not sure if this is a oneshot or the beginning of something. We shall see.
