@ MITCHEAE Thank you. I am having trouble writing another story so I haven't updated this one as soon as I would like. Plugging away on that so I can get TPWC updated.
@ Ladyfiaran Thanks, I had fun finding those dresses, virtual shopping is fun! :D Don't worry we'll see Danny and the boys again, they're too much fun not to have show up.
I love the Minions' songs. Fab idea! Too late to indoctrinate sibs into being minions; perhaps not too late to train children to be minions! Mwahahahaha!
One small thing; you do a lot of telling and not as much showing. You tell us what people are saying, thinking, and feeling, etc, not as much showing through description. It makes for a kind of brusque story.
@ Jayess I didn't take it as I (or Kris/Kallie) have parented wrongly. It's nice to hear how other parents have chosen to raise their families it gives me ideas on how my characters might act. I know there is no one true way for parenting.I figure as long as I hear I hate you at least once a week from my eldest I'm doing good. My kids are happy, healthy and understand eating well gives you energy and keeps away things that could hurt you. They also know NO medication stigma as everyone in the house takes meds every day.
I do know that there are various ways to feed children and what works for one family might not work for another. You actually have inspired a chapter that is upcoming. Kallie does know how she wants to feed Alexander, she just will need to get Kris on board. Who knows she might get other families on a similar path as well.
Thank you for your feedback and comments. I work hard to research things I'm not up on to make sure I get them to be as true to life as I can. As my kids aren't infants anymore I had to do some reading on what was the current standards for all sorts of things. Made me glad mine aren't that young anymore. LOL
Mine like veggies, too, but they are young enough that I don't take any credit for it because I know they could change their minds if only out of orneriness. I only take credit in always offering fruit or veg at every meal and snack. Once when I was picking my oldest up from school, he was finishing off his snack before we left in the cafeteria and another mom walked by and told her son, "look, he's eating his broccoli!" And I could only think, "Well, yeah, but you probably don't say things like, 'You can't have any more broccoli/spinach/chard/zucchini/beans/whatever if you don't eat your pizza!'" It's possible mine are weird.
Eh, sorry if that sounded like a critique, I didn't mean it to. Life with kids is hard so I like to share what I found to work. But sometimes people hear "I did it differently" and interpret it to mean "You're doing it wrong," they hear judgment when someone chooses a different way. Kids are different, parents parent differently, and if the kids are cared for well, it doesn't much matter how you get from point A to point B. In the end, it really doesn't matter if you played Rachmaninoff over the crib or Metallica, much less if you did jarred foods or waited until the kids could pick up the food and mash it in their faces.
@ Jayess Mine loved the purees we used which was whatever veggie the adults were having (without any spices). Fed ours veggies first and once those were accepted started fruits. They are 14 and 9 now and I STILL have no trouble getting them to eat veggies.
As for Kris and Kallie dealing with Alex, Gotta give me some time to get things the way I want them first before things can change for the better for the little man.
Man, I have to say that I'm glad we were lazy in terms of food. Baby-led weaning! Highly endorse; it's basically letting babies decide when they are ready to eat by giving them foods that are soft and small enough to eat safely and letting them feed themselves with their hands. Totally skipped the puree and spoon feeding phase, went straight to soft-cooked veggies, soft fruits like pears and cooked apple, yam, avocado, hard boiled egg, etc. Mine didn't like solids until after 7-8 months anyway.
