Absolutely amazing. That ending is superb. The narrator's emotions are so clear and so brilliant written. The fact that you just wrote this "on a whim" amazes me. You're really talented and I wish I had something more constructive to say, but I don't! Love this.

Like everyone has said, this really is a moving piece. I could almost feel the despair of the narrator as I read. I can't say I've ever been through anything like this, but you've described everything so perfectly that I can definitely imagine what it would be like. The words are so simple and so few, but you've created such a beautifully heartbreaking little story within those few words and I think that's really impressive. You've also fleshed out the narrator really well and again, that's a feat within such a small space but you've managed it anyway. They just seem so real and down to earth. Definitely impressed with this piece.

I'll be announcing the winners at some point within the next week, so good luck! Cute

    SO RELATABLE, I CANNOT EVEN.

Seriously, thank you so much for writing this. It was really lovely and I could relate to the narrator so much. Beautiful job. :)

Wow, nice work. I love drabbles and this is exactly the kind of thing that I'm always looking for! It's very powerful and moving and heartbreaking. I think the reason it's so powerful to me is that I've been through something like this and I know exactly how it feels. You do an excellent job of setting the tone of the story. I feel so sad and hopeless, like there is absolutely nothing to be done. I feel bad for the narrator. I absolutely love the metaphor in the second sentence, it's perfect. Again, very very very nice work, this is excellent. Cute

Amazing how you can write something so heartbreakingly beautiful with a little over a hundred words. I love how you compare him to the sun, that was beautiful. Well done!

Might I suggest "I woke up in the middle of the night, to missing him." instead? I'm just not sure the 'to' is actually grammatically correct, and it just sounds really funny to me. Which then draws my attention completely away from what you're talking about, and right at the beginning of the drabble, nonetheless.

ANYWAYS, that aside, I did think this was a rather moving piece. (: I couldn't personally relate to it (and I suppose I'm very lucky in that respect, no?) but I could definitely see how others could! I think that as far as drabbles go, this was actually really powerful, and I don't really have anything else to nitpick on. <--- And that's weird.

    Beautifully done, love. (:
