So much foreshadowing it isn't even funny. I just have that feeling you get when you know it is all about to hit the fan. Nas is in for it. Can't wait for more :)
I think Tati may be on to something, but I hope it's not going to be one of those fics where Nastia is going to fall head over heels with a teammate and she stops being an athlete, it would be nice to hear about her athletic career rather than her love life.
While this is a fun story, some of the details are just off-putting. An athlete who eats lucky charms, oreos, and orange soda for breakfast isn't going to be a very good athlete for very long. It's not a matter of getting fat. It's not feeding your body what it needs to put on and maintain the muscle and strength to perform at a high level. You can't do a three hour workout or play a hockey game on that kind of diet. None of those things provides good nutrition for anyone much less a professional athlete. While some athletes cheat may occasionally, a steady diet of McDonalds and junk food isn't going further an athlete's career; it's simply impossible to perform at the professional level eating like that. And if you eat poorly before and/or after a hard workout or game, you're going to feel shitty.
Athletes can't get away with eating crappy food unless they add a little of it to an otherwise excellent and healthy diet. So don't put in details of food if you're not sure what to feed an athletic character or do the research to make it realistic.
Oh, I love this. It's fantastically realistic, which is pretty hard to come by in fan fictions where a girl is drafted/trying to get into the NHL. I like how she's not immediately thrown on the team, but actually has to go through development camp like the rest of them. Also, good choice on Datsyuk as a favorite player :)---is this a hint as to what type of player Nastia will be????
