The hereditary comment was my favorite one liner the entire chapter and I knew that it was in this one and I was so quick to find it because I laughed my ass of the first time I read it, honestly.

"He sighed softly and closed his eyes, listening to the crackles and pops of the embers that devoured the wood." You just made me think of my house in Georgia where I go hunting. I literally pictured it clear as day. Wow.

I like how he tried to flatter her tbfh. Like that gets you anywhere, especially because his pretty face. Although, I think you mean to say 'flatterer' in the one part, as opposed to 'flatter?'

“Did the deer growl and scare you off, brother?” YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAS.

Favorite part is the fact that they both had no idea if she was a dwarf or not. And also you know, that Uncle Thorin DOESN'T KNOW SHIT EVEN THOUGH HE THINKS HE DOES. Although that isn't obvious in the chapter.. lmfao

Okay so preface comments. Seriously, I loved the preface solely for the imagery. Seriously, you know how to use imagery. What did stick out to me though was where you said she 'ran like hell' cause I don't know that they actually know what hell is in middle earth but I'm pretty sure that's irrelevant anyways so I'll shut up. Moving to the next chapter in my next comment
