The lyrics are pretty simple, it says he'll forgive her when she comes back and I liked that, that even though he's broken-hearted, he just knows he'll have her again. I wanted to put that part in.

Well the happy ending's a really implied stretch. You'd have to really know the song to understand Jack comes back. I guess that's what I really like, it's almost like a secret ending.

It can be sad or happy. The long version is actually the one that implies a happy ending, with the girl coming back to him and I just wanted to write something. So, Jalex. And, Johnny Cash's voice doesn't help with the tears. So lovely.
