Nice! Reminds me of something from the Twilight Zone. :) I liked the set up and the mystery established here. I think the story could definitely be expanded upon and fleshed out (extending his day-to-day life, then showing us what happens after he realizes this was all an experiment). Maybe he could learn something about himself or the world while he's in isolation, so that when he gets "captured" and remembers it was all an experiment, he isn't about to go back to prison... or something like that. :D Great job!
