I just recently found this story of yours and I'm really, really enjoying it. While I don't wholeheartedly believe that this is how Daryl would necessarily be acting, I do appreciate the type of personality that you've given your version of him. Please continue with updates because I am absolutely hooked :D

Hey! Here for gift swap and I’m terribly sorry for taking so long with this.

I love The Walking Dead, but never got around to reading any fanfic for it and I must say, I really like yours. I’m always interested in the pre-apocalypse fics since I’ve always wanted a closer look into how the characters lives were before the show, especially Daryl’s.

I enjoy your writing style. It’s very descriptive and I could easily picture the scenes you wrote. It’s kinda eloquent in a way, but also simple if that makes sense. Now the character, Sarah. I like her and what I know of her so far. It sucks that her parents don’t approve of what she wants to do and I could understand how frustrated she must feel in trying to explain to them that art was what she chose.

Then the bar scene happens. Man, that David guy was getting on my nerves and I praise you for writing that kind of person without going over the top. BUT THEN DARYL COMES and I knew some shit was going to go down and yesss, go Daryl for punching him in the nose. And how Sarah reacted to it helped me learn more about her personality. Like Daryl thought, one would expect her to be all shaken and thank him right away but instead she tells him that she didn’t need his help. To be honest, I already believed her. From how she was in the first scene with her parents, it’s clear that she isn’t passive.

I like how Daryl’s a little curious about her family issues. He could’ve said he didn’t want to know anything about her or have her talk to him, but he didn’t. I also love the little details that he noticed about her that were surprising to him like her wanting to smoke and how she could down a shot without trouble. That shows that there’s more to her than her appearance shows just like how there’s more to him.

You’ve got a great start and it makes people want to know how things between them will progress. I’m definitely subscribing to see what happens next and so far it’s a great story. So awesome job!

I love how you sketch the parent, I can see their reactions before my eyes. And the old 'you can't make money with art' its a great one. Although I understand a parents angst when their children choose a profession in which succes is only for the few. I do understand her wanting to follow her passion.

The name of that bar 'the dusty boot' haha a great name! and I love the interaction from her side towards David.

all in all this is so great! Keep writing this!
