Poor Phil Kessel got a lot of shit from the Leaf fans for not working hard enough. Oddly enough, after I finished this fic, he was traded to Pittsburgh. He's been with the Penguins for a couple years now, and has done so well. There was just something about his awkward, shy persona that I loved.

Okay, this was really sweet. I really enjoyed this. I googled him, and boy, Phil Kessel is not the prettiest Leaf, but you made me fall for him. Wonderful story.

I think that I said in a comment on one of your other fics that I’m one of your readers from AO3, so, Hi! I enjoy your writing brought that I’m willing to follow you to other fandoms; even, apparently hockey, which is, I’ll tell you, quite an accomplishment. :)

So I just had to read this amazing story again and think "I wonder how Pittsburgh is treating these two now?" Funny how things turn out, right? Anyways I just had to comment for some reason.

So I've been away from the scene for a few months and came back to see you posted this story and you sucked me right back in. I loved your others so much I stayed up waaay later than I should have reading this. Your writing is absolutely amazing. You have a way of setting up your characters so perfectly it's impossible not to get attached. I can't wait to read more stories from YOU!

I'm behind on this (and trying to play catch-up), but chapter 9... I welled up. For once, vulnerability is perfectly captured over an email, so kudos to you for having the talent and ability to convey that. But his admission has my eyes glassy. I can't stop reading this.

Oh, man, when I don't check my updates for months, you come along and post a whole story! OTOH, a whole story! So lucky! On the negative side, no comments as I read each chapter. Sadness.

This was cute. Kessel doesn't do it for me but his hockey cannot be denied. Poor leafs fans, though, the leafs are continuing to tank in new and exciting ways. I'm not a fan except of Steve Dangle's work - have you seen it? I wish I knew of video bloggers for other NHL teams similar in amusement value to him.

I really liked how they got to know one another over email and phone. Even though she totally threw herself off a cliff, there's something to be said about the foundation a long distance relationship and a slow build via non-physical communication. I saw my BF a couple-3 times for months on end while we went to different schools; I really believe that helped us build a more solid base to our relationship still going strong more than a decade, a family, and a cross-country move later.

I have a hankering to see more fics about Niklas Backstrom (Capitals), Mike Green (Capitals), or NiK Hjalmerson (Blackhawks), if you're mulling future stories. Of course, anything about any of the big names, Crosby, Kane, Toews, Ovechkin, Malkin, etc., would not go amiss either! But I suspect that you're not as interested in them any more, which I can understand. Love your work, now am going to catch up on your new Paulie fic. Paaaaaaulie! He seems like he's a pretty grounded kind of guy, I like a practical and smart guy, I'm looking forward to your interpretation!

@ ngwk88 - That's a lot to read in one sitting! I'm so glad you enjoyed the fic. I have several other fics that you might like if you enjoyed this one. Check 'em out if you get a chance. Also, so glad you're loving on at least my fictional Kessel.

@ beautiful sorta - Thank you so much! Hearing that someone didn't want to stop reading the fic makes me feel like I accomplished my goal of giving everyone a lovely romantic escape. I have a few other fics with other players. If you haven't done so, check 'em out when you're looking for another escape.

@ jfong1130 - So glad you liked it! Thank you for the lovely compliments. The Paul Martin fic is coming up soon. Probably in the next week or two. I got derailed in December with a crazy work schedule and a needy boyfriend and holiday gatherings and travel. I'm back on the writing track now and am working on the 15th chapter tonight. Sutter is on my mind, but he probably won't be the next guy up to bat. I have this storyline in my head that won't go away and it stars Mr. Steve Downie. I came up with the original idea when I started the Paul fix and I've been dying to write it.

@ Thatmom - Awww, such a lovely compliment that it's good enough for a second reading! I hope you enjoyed it. I know it might seem like I've left everyone hanging, but I assure you I haven't. The Paul Martin fic will be ready in the next week or two. I'm working on Chapter 15 tonight. As usual, it'll probably be around 20 chapters. The holidays really screwed up my quality writing time. Anyway, stay tuned!

Omg. I just read your whole story in one sitting. Fantastic writing paired with real, normal characters made this story such a good read!! I loved every second of it and never wanted it to end. Can't say I was Kessel's biggest fan before reading this story but now I for sure have a soft spot for him, or at least the fictional Phil ;)

Just got around to finishing this and I loved it! Such a different storyline than most other stories (not that those are bad) and your writing is impeccable as always. Can't wait for your next one especially since it's about someone on the pens (I would have gone for sutter first though!!) Very Happy

@ kmblue - Oh, god. I LOVE it. That's the most ridiculous thing I've seen.

@ theoairplane - Thank you! I'm so glad it inspired you!

@ gurlygirl87 - Thanks! The next story will probably be about Paul Martin. I'm working on it right now.

@ hearteyes89 - Thank you so much! I love that you connected with them as normal people who have faults and fears and want to find someone to love. That's what I really wanted to get across in this fic.

    @ blkngld87 - I promise I won't take such a long-ass hiatus again. :-)

@ decemberist - Yay! I'm glad I converted you to lovin' on some Phil.

Oh my god. SLAY. SLLLAAAAAAAAAY ME. You are perfect. This story is perfect. Nora and Phil are perfect. They made me so happy, sad, and everything in between. That raw emotional feeling is so real. I love how you write them as normal people. This is such a gem of a story and it's one I know I will keep coming back to! I'm happy they got their happy ending :)

Kessel was definitely unexpected, as was my love for him by the end of this story! Seriously, Phil Kessel. Who would've thought??? This was so great!
