my only concern is the line ""What are you doing?" Alex asked, voice laced with panic, "Where did you send her? What am I supposed to do now?"", because alex says this before he's kissed jack and gets his voice back??

It's been YEARS since I watched it, but from what I remember, this man falls for a mermaid. I think she does become a person at some point? I might be making that up. I think people try to experiment on her when she turns into a mermaid again and he frees her into the ocean again. I'm probably talking shit, I honestly don't remember the plot very well, I just remember greatly enjoying it. :')

yeah, i wasn't going to mention that it wouldn't be a direct copy so it'd be a surprise, but i realized that maybe more people would want to read it if they knew that

i'm also not exactly sure where the gif is from since i didn't make the layout, but i will definitely watch that movie (if i haven't already?? can't remember??)

The Little Mermaid is my baby, I'm intrigued, especially since you mentioned below it's not a direct copy of the film (bc tbh that puts me off too).

Also, in the layout, is that gif from the 1984 movie Splash? If you haven't watched it, you should! It's so awesome omg.

it's not a problem, i guess critisism would have been helpful in the case where i actually was just going with the original plot and i hadn't finished writing it yet. i didn't really want to give away that i was changing the plot because i wanted it to be a surprise, but maybe it's better that i did, because more people will want to read it now like you said??? anyways thank u tho! :^)

okay thats cool then!!! i just wanted to say something in case you really were gonna have the entire thing just be a written fic version of the movie... but a different ending is obviously nbd and i feel like a dick for even saying anything?? i've seen people copy things verbatim before so.... just making sure. good luck with the fic!!! :o)

halfway through the story the plot changes :~) i know what you mean, and i can see how that would make you not want to read it, but i really enjoy writing stories closely based off of other things. it's not like i'm taking credit for the entire movie, y'know? and actually, the entire reason why i decided to write this fic was because, one day i was like, "hey, what if the little mermaid ended like this?" and i'm basically just using jalex as a platform to write the story with my twist. so it is basically a copy, and i can acknowledge that, but it doesn't end the same, and that's the whole reason why i decided to write it

I'm in love with mermaid fics, and I'm all for basing fics off of movies, but this is just straight up using the entire movie as the plot and changing the names of some of the characters, maybe with a few small bits changed. idk, I don't wanna sound like a pessimist but I feel like I don't really want to read something that's just a ripoff of a Disney film? couldn't you still have the story be influenced by the little mermaid, but use an original plot? idk don't hate me :((((
