This is such a unique and intriguing concept! I really like your writing style so far.
My only criticism is that at times it is hard to believe your narrator is only 5, but then again I get the impression she's no normal kid, so maybe that's got something to do with it.
Your right in that the story was written from an adult perspective years later...Some of the details have been changed in order to fictionalize it and make it a better story. But she is an extremely unusual five year old
