    college is laid back af
    i mean, i'm only in state college aka glorified community college, and as long as you don't miss more than four days a semester, no one gives a single fuck about where u are
    my first semester there, one teacher would lock the door at exactly 8 am and no one was allowed in afterward, and the other one, if you were later than when the sign in sheet was passed around, u had to stand in front of everyone and sing a song of his choosing
    thankfully, i was never late to either, but that's bc my mum or grammy had to drive me in every day since i was only 16 at the time and too busy w trying to be perfect in school to get a license which i'm finally going to hopefully get in two weeks
    no one really cares about each other at college either
    it's more an "interact if they're already friends or if you absolutely have to" kinda thing
    i mean like u don't care idk why i'm telling u all this??? but
    yeah like at mine you can only take a max of five classes a semester, and they're either like once a week or every other day, unless they're online bc then it's like "hey just make sure to turn everything in on time and u'll be fine"
    i usually spend ten hours or less a week on campus per semester
    it's great
    unless classes are like an hour apart bc then you're sitting and waiting and it's like "ugh i just wanna leave"

    neither of us really know how colleges or academies work so we tried our best to make it realistic, but in the end decided "fuck it, we made up the place so we can make up the rules". plus, the layout of the courses isn't that relevant to the actual story, we just need to introduce the characters somehow.
    anyways, thank you for commenting !! writing alex's character is always hilarious because of how flustered he gets over jack all the time

    i thought those were like just high schools that people lived at tho??? kinda like universities but for high school age students???
