This was so beautiful. It was written quite simply, but it was very touching and a bit soothing (for me, at least). Even though this was focusing on the Philippines or Filipino culture (I'm assuming), the descriptions were so relatable to me. The last line was so strong because as the narrator got that sense of being home, I also felt the same as your details reminded me of Hawai'i.
