So I love WW2, and I loved this right from the summary! The words you use to describe the scene unfolding are really helpful in bringing me into the mind of someone; and the final words being his exact thoughts lead me to wonder what exactly he looked upon. Right when your first chapter starts, I learn something: legal drinking age used to be 18. My favorite part is probably the conversation about family. I feel like there was always such a strong emphasis on family in the past, or at least focus on it in a way that differs from now - especially because it seems a relationship is going to be had between two male characters in a time where that was frowned upon. I'm excited to see where you'll take that, because I've never seen any realistic WW2 pieces involving same-sex/"non-traditional" relationships.

Okay so this seems really, really cool. It's a perspective of WW2 that I haven't read from before. Historical fiction is literally my favorite genre of all time, so that helps a lot here. It's kind of funny, too, that my best friend and I have had a very similar conversation about moving to the west coast (minus all of the war talk, of course) and about having families. I like that you're building very close character relationships that are platonic in nature before anything romantic. I always enjoy reading about characters who have other things going for them a lot more than characters who are there purely to further a romantic plotline. I can tell this is going to be a fantastic story!
