I truly love how you start of this story. You really have a way with words and I enjoy it when a story just starts in the middle of everything without a boring introduction.

You keep the reader guessing as you take them along the journey. You set the era nicely. The dialogue seems time-fitting.

Although not much happens in the first chapter, it does keep me captivated so good job! I love it when writers are able to do that!

Oh and as a side note: The layout is very nice. I love the light colors and that the text is easily readable.

I agree with losing control. The Victorian Era feeling is very nice. Have you decided what the characters look like or is that up to the readers?

I like that this really has the Victorian feel going on. It's always kind of difficult to keep that vibe through the whole story but you guys have done a great job for the first two chapters so far. The characters seem really realistic as well, which is nice to read in a story like this. Sometimes people get caught up in keeping the dialogue in line with the time the story is set in and it gets super rigid, but I didn't see that in this story.

There seems to be quite a bit of mystery for all of the characters so far, just because we don't know much about them, but the "adults" seem like they know something that no one else does and it makes me super curious. I'm excited to read about the ball and see if any shenanigans get going there.

Let me just start by saying what a good job you have done at giving this a genuine Victorian feel. I am digging the tone of the story so far. I like the small mystery of Richard. I like the mother's character as well, a loud mother is a new one. Usually, I'm reading about either mean mothers or strict mothers. I'm a loud mom lol it's refreshing to read about one. I like this story already and have already reccomenedd it to someone. Can't wait to read more :)
