So I’ll start off with the summary and say that I love how it has such a strong connection to the poem already. I love the way you’ve given us a taste of what the story will be about without actually giving anything of the actual plot away. Definitely eager to see how this unfolds.
Honestly, I don’t even know where to start with this, other than to say that I love this. There’s this natural flow and ease to your words that makes the story that much more enjoyable to read, even though we can see that the main character feels lost but wants to be better. There’s this hopeful tone that I’m really digging, despite the fact that she’s in what I assume to be some sort of abusive relationship. The repetition in ‘warm warm warm all over’ and ‘have you gained weight?’ just give such a great emphasis and ugh, I seriously cannot get over how beautiful this story is. I also really liked the phrase ‘an intrepid exploration of the familiar unfamiliar’. No reason why, I just think it sounds cool.
I like that you’ve given us backstory too, it helps put the beginning into context and helps me understand what’s going on – though even if you’d just left it with the first bit, I would’ve still been satisfied. Like I said before, I really love the way you’ve linked the poem to the story and I’m going to subscribe because I want to see how you finish this off. I’m also probably going to comment on further chapters but more in a fangirling sense because your writing is honestly stunning and I hope that Hallie finds her way. This is the sort of story that gives you mad hope and because of that, I really hope that this turns out to have a happy ending. Thanks for entering!
