I have to admit, I'm (still) a huge fan of PBSKids programming. So even though I'm 27 and Word Girl wasn't a thing until I was like 16 (or maybe older), as soon as I saw the name "Becky Botsford" I was like, OH MY GOD. IS THIS REALLY A WORD GIRL FANFIC! For a second, when I saw the name Jackie Winchester, I thought, OH MY GOD. IS THIS REALLY A WORD GIRL AND SUPERNATURAL FANFIC!, but it's not. Still, I'm interested.
The first chapter was pretty straight-forward but I think that works for the story. The narrative seems really similar to the show, which I also think works. I like that the wording and descriptions are pretty simple (again that adds to the 'Word Girl' feel of things), but I noticed the rating is set to PG-13. I do feel like if this story is going to get 'more adult', the storytelling might have to evolve a bit too, to keep up with an older audience (if you're aiming for an older audience).
Still, it's nice to see a different fandom here on Mibba. It was a really pleasant surprise. I smiled so hard when I saw the summary for this.
