this nice and easily sums up why i am not down for a robot apocalypse at all. that would be an instant shitshow; the line about them knowing exactly how humans work, just...no.

i think that's why, even though this is such a short read, it's really sticking with me. in just a few words, it very quickly taps into a fear that a reader might not even know they have. staring down the barrel of a gun that's in the possession of something that knows all of your weak points, something that is willing and able to draw out your death, make you suffer, destroy life as you know it, that's scary as hell.

and then the entire tone of the story shifts into something less terrifying, more sad. the last couple of lines made me throw my face into my pillow because not only was i not expecting it, that hurt. it was such a good ending, though, delivered incredibly well through just a few lines. this was a wonderful read, and i really like how you took the road less traveled by going the robot apocalypse route. great job!
