oh, my god this was fucking beautiful. i'm actually sobbing and pissed off because i know that i'll never be able to fully express how much i love this story. my best friend is a painter (i possess no artistic ability so i can't completely relate however) and so i know how much art can mean to someone. and because she has painted things for me, i know what it can mean to someone else and my god did you capture it perfectly. I loved every second of this, but my favorite was all of the metaphors you used. you said so much without saying them obviously. alex's longing broke my heart and jack's inability to say i love you did, too. but the ending was everything to me: the mural, alex's tears, everything. it was fucking genius and just perfect. i loved jack's reaction to alex's paintings of him and how it made him feel. ugh. i just seriously loved it all. i know that i'm all over the place and i feel like shit because i can't give you the comment you deserve, but i just want you to know that this affected me more than any fic has in a very long time and i hope that you continue writing because you very clearly have a gift for it. it is truly art.
