Ohhhhh I really like this one!! What can I say, I am a sucker for fantasy and wizardry...this piece right here kinda reminded me of Howl from Howl's Moving Castle for some reason...maybe it was the sense of magic this story stirred in me as a reader! And then the whole central theme of just believing...that right there I found so beautiful as it was such a simple, 'pure' thing.

I kinda found the blank, simple layout to be beautiful in a way---I guess it allowed for me to "see" the story the way I pictured and believed it would be, and it allowed me to paint a rather peaceful image in my head. (does that make sense or do I sound like a complete nutcase???)
I loved that there were a lot of mystery where as a reader had me guessing and questioning the mysterious wizard character. I love your details and the reflective way this story was told.

Just one tiny thing...when you said
    "He had caught phenomena..."
Did you mean pneumonia(the infection of the lungs were fluid builds up in your air sacs...)? I'm not sure if this was intentional or something, but I just thought I would point it out.

    Thanks for the beautiful read!!

Found this on comment swap :) I thought this was well-written, mysterious, and beautiful. I have to admit, I thought the same thing as AndStuff about the river running through the water. Also, I didn't know if the narrator was a male or female until his dad said "son" at the end, so you might want to indicate at least the gender of the character earlier in the story. Other than that, I really liked it :)

Very good story. I'm a total fantasy freak, so it was a fun story to read for me. I have to say, at first it seemed like the river ran through the house itself, so you may want to change the wording up there. It was a little sad at the end of course, but I'm sure that you wanted that to be. A few grammar errors, but nothing to bad. You have a good story. Keep on writing!

I absolutely adored this story. The way you wrote it was both beautiful and powerful. I found the magic and mystery to be alluring; it really gripped me. I thought the language you used was really fantastic, and your grammar and spelling seemed to be spot on. I was thoroughly impressed with the entire thing.

Aww. I didn’t honestly expect it, but I actually liked this. :3 Found it in the comment swap thing, and I'm glad I did. I enjoyed the whole magical concept about it. Also, I wanted to add that I really liked the summary line, even though it was short I thought that it was powerful. I think that you did a good job. ^_^

Edit: I'm sorry about all the multiple comment posts. for some reason this totally messed up while I was posting . >.<

I absolutely loved this short piece. I was amazing.
Towards the end I was yearning for some kind of conclusion, something to wrap it up. I wanted to understand who the wizard was and where he came from, and what the relationship was between him and the boys dad.
But once I finished the piece, I was happy you left it the way you did. It left an enchanting little mystery that still has me thinking about it, even after it's over.
Thanks for that amazing read :)

    I fucking loved it.

Again I'm sorry I haven't seen it before, and I don't know why, because I wish I was the first reader of this fantastic story.

When I saw how long it was, I was all "Oh no".. but when I was at the point of Dad's deathbed I was like "NOOOOOO...IT'S OVERRRR Cry "

    I really really think it's a masterpiece.

^Thanks. I didn't think of those two, but it could be. I deliberately left the other characters unnamed so they can be whoever you want.

WOW. I saw this on the Pimping and Reccing thread on the forums, and the excerpt just blew me away. In Love

This is amazingly sad. The way the father broke down crying at the words of his friend and the name Freddie... it made me think of the father as George Weasley and the wizarding friend as his deceased brother, Fred. (Aha, I can make connections to Harry Potter out of anything.) Maybe it was the connection between them, or the fact that the father aged but the wizard friend didn't.

Awh, even if it wasn't about those twins, I envisioned the pain I remember George experiencing when he lost Fred and applied it here because that's what your words did to me.

    Excellent job!
