  • You have to update. Oh my God. I have a feeling this story will be awesome. I love Green Day, (as if it wasn't obvious considering my username and profile etc etc etc...) and I really like the storyline of this. Especially because Mike is usually kinda left out....

  • I would like to say that i was impressed by how well the second chapter of your story flowed. Even though there was a lot of discription and filling in on the main character's past, you didn't have any trouble with keeping up a flowing plot. I also loved the last line:

I pretended to be crying happy tears. (i think that's it)

It was very emotional, and I loved it.

  • I love love love the whole concept of red and the different meanings behind it. It’s really true and the summary hints, with the conflicting meanings, that there’ll be conflicting feelings in the story. It fits so well. The fact that Mike describes childhood as “black and white” indicates the real difference between the innocence and naivety of that stage of life with the new feelings and emotions that come with being a teenager and an adult; romantic feelings and sexual desire. I love the direct contrast.

Mike’s descriptions of him and Billie are sweet. And the little details you include, the whole back-story helps to develop him as a character. I feel as though I’m getting an in depth look into his mind and his thoughts and emotions. I like the limited amount of dialogue too; it suits the set up, how Mike is reflecting on past events, and also kind of shows that they don’t always need words to communicate and can rely on instinct.

I found it sweet that Mike was noticing things about Billie, things about his body and his face. And the way that he described him earlier, Billie Joe Armstrong was a small kid with green eyes and an extraordinary talent with words and melody it’s evident that Mike cares for him deeply and has a great amount of respect for him. Given that he is reflecting, the fact that Mike remembered what Billie was wearing and those little details about him, it shows it was a really significant moment in his life.

…and it was the first fucking kiss that gave me a feeling of euphoria right down to my toes. Wow. That description was fantastic. I love how the kiss was so great for Mike, so amazing, even though it wasn’t his first kiss. It’s really sweet. Your word choice is consistently beautiful.

The fact that they weren’t at all open about their relationship and what it was kind of sends alarm bells off that it wasn’t going to be long-lasting. But I felt really sorry for Mike, reading up to that point and getting to the part where he said he had to let him go. I can really get the feeling of how hard that must have been for him, not to mention how hard it must have been to see Billie with someone else.

Just one thing though…I noticed it went from past tense to present tense for part of it, and I was wondering if that was intentional or not?

I loved this first chapter. I can tell it’s the beginning of something amazing.
