This was heart-wrenching. I loved it, and to think it was your first one-shot. It was really amazing. The layout needs some work, but other than that, this was perfect. I loved the ending. It was just, whoa. Impeccable. I loved how you used the entry about him meeting Ciaran. I loved it.

I loved the ending of this, that even though the story had a very dark feel to it and the ending was sad as well it gave a little bit of hope, Ciaran stopped drinking and the old man died happily, or at least I got that out of the ending since he was so proud of making a difference, or helping someone else do a little better than he did. My favorite part of this story was the conversations between Ciaran and the old man, the way O'Malley spoke and what he said just seemed really well written to me – this was a great story.

I loved how you didn't make anything fake, you know what I mean? You didn't sugar coat it, if that makes sense.

I love the ending, it made my heart pang.

    I love your writing.

Beautiful Fionnuala. Heart wrenching but sweet all at the same time.

    I really liked the ending!

This is good. Really really good!

I like that the doctors actually held him until he admitted his problem. One could only hope they would do that in real life. Most of the time now, if there's nothing immediately wrong with you, they just send you away. . . My uncle had cancer and he was only in the hospital like six days after having half of his colon taken out.

Absolutely great. . . I feel weird saying that about such a sad subject.

Seriously touching ending though. Really aided by the fact that Make This Go On Forever by Snow Patrol was playing while I read it. . .

    Love Sheen
