Im Your Angel Forever and Always

Skylines and Turnstiles

[1 week later]
Gerard's POV

You're not in this alone
Let me break this awkward silence
Let me go, go on record
Be the first to say I'm sorry
Hear me out,
And if you take me down
Or would you lay me out
And if the world needs something better
Let's give them one more reason now, now, now

We walk in single file
We light our rails and punch our time
Ride escalators colder than a cell

One week ago the lives of many people were changed forever. The events that shocked the world killed so many innocent people, it wasn’t fair for them to die how they did and it wasn’t fair to destroy all those lives. I need some one to talk to me, someone to explain why it happened, an angel perhaps? Anyone.
It has dragged me down into deep despair, it's like there's no way out. It's funny though, how an event like this can make you feel so miserable. I don’t know anyone who’s died or is missing from the attacks but it still brings me to the brink of great sorrow.
Everything that’s happened has made me realize I need to do something with my life. I’m not helping anyone slaving away drawing shitty comics for Cartoon Network; instead I’m making life not meaningful.
I need to do something about that.

I scribble down a bunch of words onto paper turning the sentences into a song as I go. This song is kind of like a recap of what I was feeling that day, what constantly rushed through my mind as I watched them go down. I open my mouth to sing what feels like the chorus…

This broken city sky like butane on my skin
stolen from my eyes
Hello Angel, tell me where are you
Tell me where we go from here

I sing it over and over again, forming a tune easily in my head. And wow it's sounds awesome, it's the first time I’ve sung in well a very very long time. It's nice to know I can still do it.

And in this moment we can't close our lids on burning eyes
Our memories blanket us with friends we know like fallout vapors
Steel corpses stretch out towards an ending sun, scorched and black
It reaches in and tears your flesh apart
As ice cold hands rip into your heart

I form another verse humming the tune as I go until finally I come up with this:

You're not in this alone
Let me break this awkward silence
Let me go, go on record
Be the first to say I'm sorry
Hear me out,
And if you take me down
Or would you lay me out
And if the world needs something better
Let's give them one more reason now, now, now

We walk in single file
We light our rails and punch our time
Ride escalators colder than a cell

This broken city sky like butane on my skin
stolen from my eyes
Hello Angel, tell me where are you
Tell me where we go from here

Tell me we go from...

And in this moment we can't close the lids on burning eyes
Our memories blanket us with friends we know like fallout vapors
Steel corpses stretch out towards an ending sun, scorched and black
It reaches in and tears your flesh apart
As ice cold hands rip into your heart

That's if you've still got one that's left inside that cave you call a chest
And after seeing what we saw, can we still reclaim our innocence
And if the world needs something better, let's give them one more reason now

This broken city sky like butane on my skin
stolen from my eyes
Hello Angel, tell me where are you
Tell me where we go from here

Tell me we go from here

At the bottom of the page I write:
-- Dedicated to all the innocent lives that were taken in the attacks of 9/11 --

Skylines and turnstiles.
