IV - Coffee Sharing Prt 2

After my sudden panic and being calmed down, there was a silence for what seemed an eternity. But it wasn’t one of those awkward silences that made you feel uncomfortable and insecure. At that moment, it just seemed to fit right in. An appropriate silence, that in the end, was to be broken by him.

“Youknow, I still owe you a coffee,” he said.

I looked at him.

“What do you mean?”

“I owe you a coffee,” he said again. “I made you run away and your cup wasn’t even half finished.”

“Oh.. But I, that wasn’t your fault, I mean, I ran away myself,” I said.

He looked at me for a moment.

“Still,” he said. “I feel like I owe you one so I’ll get you one.”

I smiled a bit.

“Besides,” he continued. “I could use a drink myself.”

“There you go,” he said as we sat down and he handed me a cup of coffee.

“Thanks, eh..” I said, realising I didn’t even know his name.

“Oh, my name’s Billie. Well Billie Joe," he said. "But you can call me Billie," he added when he saw the puzzled look on my face.

I smiled a bit. “Thanks, Billie."

“No problem,” he said, looking at me and smiling for a moment.

“So do you have a name?” he asked after a bit of silence.

I chuckled a bit shyly. God, why didn’t I say my name after he introduced himself to me?

“I’m Morgan,” I said.

He smiled, “Okay, cool.”

We talked a bit about every day things, and he managed to completely get my mind off today and I actually had a nice time. Time flew by and when I checked the time I noticed it was already after 6.

“Oh damn,” I said, “I gotta go.”

Billie Joe looked at me with a look that seemed to ask why.

“It’s nearly dinnertime..” I said. “And it’s still my sister’s birthday, I have to be there.”

“Right,” he said. “Well, I suppose we should get going then,” he said as he got up.

I looked at him for a moment. What did he mean we? I had to go, not him. Well I suppose he didn’t feel like sitting there alone. I smiled and got up, making my way outside. I was followed by Billie.

“So, which way do we go?” he asked.

I looked at him.

“Well, I don’t know where you need to be, or are you planning on stealing from Cathy’s birthday dinner?”

He chuckled.

“Nah, but it’s getting dark and stuff and well, I just thought maybe I could walk you home or something,” he said, stuffing his hands in his pockets.

He wants to walk me home..
I smiled. “To the right,” I said.

After a walk filled with chatting and joking about nothing, we arrived at the street my house was located at.

“Well,” I said. “This is where I have to go..”

Billie Joe looked at me.

“Okay, well, I.. see you around, I guess,” he said.

I smiled a bit.

“Yeah..” I hesitated a bit, not quite sure what to say. He smiled at me. He had a cute smile.

“Thanks for brightening up my afternoon,” I blurted out as he was about to turn around.

He stopped and turned back again, and gave me another smile. I felt my cheeks warming up.

“No problem, Morgan,” he said.

“And thank you for helping me, earlier.”

“Don’t worry about it. Now, go and party with your sister!”

I chuckled.

“And tell her happy birthday from me,” he added.

I chuckled. “Okay.”

He grinned.

“Bye, Morgan.”

“Bye Billie Joe."

I got back home with a smile plastered on my face.

“Morgan!!!” Cathy called out.

I smiled. “Hey you, ready for your big dinner?”

She grinned and nodded excitingly. I ruffled her hair as I got to the kitchen where I helped Steven setting up the last things.

“Someone’s feeling better..” he said, and he chuckled. “You were out for long, anything interesting that crossed your path?”

I giggled but didn’t say anything. I just hoped my cheeks didn’t turn too red.

Maybe.
