‹ Prequel: Everything I'm Not

Love's Requiem

Love is a Verb

As soon as Bella was out like a light, I knew it was a matter of time until Jack would want to play 20 questions.

“She won’t say anything, what’s going on with you two?” Jack asked me while I watched Bella sleep in my arms.

“We’re just sticking together through this.” I told him.

“Are you going to ask her? Have you asked her yet?”

“No I haven’t I want to obviously. It’s just not the right time yet.”

“The right time? You got her pregnant I think now would be the perfect time!” He exclaimed as I felt Bella stir.

“Cut it out!” I told him lightly kicking him. “She needs as much sleep as she can get.”

“You never had an earlier flight to New York did you? You were staying with Bella.” He asked quietly.

“She had a doctor’s appointment the day before we left.”

“How is everything?”

“Pretty good, I have the sonogram in my wallet.” I told him.

“Sup dudes?” Vinny said walking in to the room, and then looked at Bella and me. “About fucking time.” He mumbled as he went on his laptop.

The three of us sat and talked until it was time for Bella to wake up.

“Five more minutes.” Bella mumbled in to me.

“You can sleep once the first band comes on.”

“That’s right I can.” She smiled as she sat up and stretched. “Shouldn’t you be at the table already? Doors are opening in five minutes.” She asked Vinny.

“I was waiting for you my love.” Vinny told her kissing her hand as she shook her head and the two of them left.

We played our set that night, and for the first time in a long time it felt great. Like there was a huge weight lifted off my shoulders. While Bella made sure everything was packed up, we all went outside to meet kids. I also kept an eye on her that she wasn’t lifting anything heavy, for the first time ever she didn’t.

“So bro you coming out with us?” Rian asked me as we were in the van going back to the hotel.

“Nah I’m going to call it a night probably.” I explained, “My head’s killing me.” I added.

“What about you Belly?” I heard Vinny ask Bella who groaned in return. “I’ll take that as a no.” He said shaking his head.

“We have the day off tomorrow so you all can swing from the chandeliers.” Bella announced as I helped her out of the van once we arrived back at the hotel.

“Hungry?” I whispered in her ear.

She nodded her head as we headed in the hotel with everyone.

“So what are you in the mood for?” I asked her as she was looking on her laptop for nearby restaurants while I changed my clothes.

“Anything, and it looks like the only place open is down the street.” She said looking up.

“So let’s go.” I told her putting on my hoodie as we left.

“You know we never used to do this when we were together on tour.” She pointed out while we ate later on.

“Do what?” I asked her.

“Just go out to dinner on our own after a show. We always were so in to going out and partying.”

“It happens.” I shrugged. “You hear from Niko at all?” I asked her.

“Not really, we’re giving each other our space.” She explained. “But it’s good me and him ended, it would have never worked out.” She went on.

“How come?”

“I can leave you guys, or Jesse and everyone. I’d be way to depressed.” She explained.

After dinner her and I hit up a small grocery store because she was complaining about how she had a craving for Nutella.

“I’m telling you they’re not going to have it Bella.” I told her while she grabbed my hand and
pulled me around the store.

“But if I’m lucky they’ll have some sort of German chocolate, they taste the fucking same.”
Sure enough of the shelves there was the brown and white jar.

“Thank you Mary!” She exclaimed grabbing two jars and going to the counter.

“And the pregnancy cravings begin.” I told her while we walked back, her still holding my hand.

Once back at the hotel she managed to get two spoons from the buffet area before we headed to our room.

“I had fun tonight Alex.” She smiled as we both sat on one of the beds.

“Me too, we should make it our thing to do whenever they go out.” I told her as I opened the jar of Nutella for her, and she handed me a spoon.

“I’d like that.” She nodded as she took a spoonful of Nutella. “Man, that’s good stuff.” She sighed, as I took some.

We watched TV together and joked around smearing it on each others face.
“I was thinking,” Bella began as she let out a yawn.

“That’s a very unlikely thing.” I teased.

“I know this is going to sound weird but, I can’t sleep without you. Like I toss and turn really badly.”

“Want me to push the beds together?” I asked her catching on.

“Please?”

“Sure.” I smiled as I got up and moved the other bed next to the one she was on.

She got up and fixed the blankets so they were on top of each other and laid back down.

“Thank you.” She told me kissing my cheek.

A little while later she changed in to her pajamas, and went under the blankets shooting me a look as she nudged me.

“Yes Bella?” I asked her as she cleared her throat. “Ready for bed?”

“Yup.” She nodded giving me a smile that made me laugh as I took of my jeans and tee shirt getting in next to her.

She quickly went in my arms as if on reflex, and rested on my chest.

“I’m getting way to used to this.” I heard her mumble in to me.

“Well maybe we don’t have to stop doing this.” I told her as she lifted her head up.

“What do you mean?” She looked confused.

“I mean maybe,” I began but soon stopped myself and just kissed her instead.

She kissed back, and let me pull her up towards me, deepening the kiss. I felt her run her fingers through my hair while I ran my hand down her side.
